Fighting between Hutu rebels and government forces has been raging for more than two weeks in Bujumbura, the capital. A curfew is in effect from 8 p.m. to dawn. The worst of the conflict has occurred in the districts of Kinama and Ngagara. The current fighting represents the biggest offensive in the capital in years. Some 200,000 people, most of them civilians, have been killed in the conflict now seven years old.
