Demonstrators closed all border crossings between Austria and the Czech Republic Sept. 15 to protest the Czech government’s plan to activate a nuclear power plant 35 miles north of the border. It was the third protest in as many weeks, and threatened to spread to Germany, where protestors are equally concerned about the facility, which was designed by the Soviets but recently modified by Westinghouse.
