The U.S. State Department has reissued its announcement that Americans abroad may be the target of terrorist threats from groups linked to Osama bin Laden. U.S. Government facilities remain on heightened alert and may temporarily close without notice to assess and upgrade their security systems. In a similar announcement, the department warned potential travelers to Pakistan to carefully assess the security implications before going. The warning cited the presence of Osama bin Laden in neighboring Afghanistan and his public support in Pakistan as well as the presence of indigenous terrorist groups as reasons for the threat to Americans in Pakistan.
