Fighting occurred recently between Rwandan forces and insurgent groups in Ruhengeri province in northwestern Rwanda near the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo. Further conflict is possible. Travel to the vicinity of Virunga National Park on the Congo border should be avoided, including organized tours to see the mountain gorillas, because security cannot be assured.
