After a notorious rebel attack on a tourist group in March 1999 in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, security has been significantly increased in national parks across the country. But a recent attack on a minibus in Murchison Falls National Park claimed eleven lives. The raid was attributed to the Lord’s Resistance Army, a rebel group from neighboring Sudan led by a man who claims to be a spirit medium. Travel to Murchison Falls National Park should be avoided until security has been strengthened.
