Fuel prices increased 30 percent last week, causing strikes by transport workers in six cities and violent demonstrations in Jakarta. Further trouble is possible in Jakarta, Bandung and Medan. Electricity rates are scheduled to increase almost 18 percent July 1, which could spark further unrest in an already angry populace.
