Some 2,000 people have been diagnosed with dengue fever in what health officials fear is becoming an epidemic. Twenty people have died this year from the disease, which is spread by mosquitoes and has no specific treatment. Symptoms include headaches, nausea and vomiting. The best defense is to protect yourself from mosquito bites by wearing clothing that covers the arms and legs, using insect repellent and sleeping under netting.
