It happens all over the world, but Greece is doing something about it: taxi drivers are now required to post signs in their cabs showing standard fares for popular routes. After one too many complaints about drivers overcharging exorbitantly, the government decided to crack down and try to give tourists a break.

Greece

Strikes are commonplace here, but they can be exasperating for travelers on an itinerary. Striking dock workers have shut down ferry service from the ports of Piraeus and Rafina to many of the Greek Islands, including Ios, Naxos, Paros and Santorini. Call ahead to make sure the boats are sailing before packing your bags.
