National elections will be held Oct. 29, and trouble is likely in Zanzibar, a region that includes the islands of Zanzibar and Pemba. Political tensions have been increasing here in recent years. Travel to Pemba should be avoided up to and shortly after the election. On both islands, stay away from polling places or other public areas on election day.
