It has been ten years since Aung San Suu Kyi’s National League for Democracy Party won an election that was immediately nullified by the military. She and her party continue to carry the torch for a freely elected government, but the army is still firmly in control. It appears unlikely that Aung San Suu Kyi’s dream will be realized any time soon because hundreds of democracy supporters have been jailed, and she herself is watched very closely.
