Egypt

Egypt
By Larry Habegger | Permalink |Parliamentary elections are being held in three phases, Oct. 18, 29, and Nov. 8. It is the first election in decades being held in stages with judges monitoring the polling stations. Turnout is usually low but the government is pushing for greater participation. In the last election five years ago, dozens were killed and scores injured in election-related violence. Consider deferring travel until the election is over and results have been released.
