Monsoon rains have brought severe flooding to Bangladesh’s Comilla district, displacing some 70,000 people, affecting half a million and threatening to wash out the highway linking the capital of Dhaka and Chittagong, the country’s main port. The weather pattern suggests it’ll get worse before it gets better. The coastal areas were also rocked by a magnitude 5.2 earthquake July 22 that killed three and destroyed some 500 homes on the island of Maheskhali, 185 miles south of Dhaka.
