Indonesia

Indonesia
By Larry Habegger | Permalink |Violent protests occurred in Jakarta Sept. 24 and later in Medan in response to the passage of a law that gave the armed forces expanded emergency powers. The demonstrations prompted the government to rescind the law and suggest that the fallout from the bloody debacle in East Timor has begun to be felt.
