With AIDS reportedly infecting 25 percent of the population, a formal effort to promote sex tourism seems like the worst idea of the millennium, but according to local reports, the Cape Town Tourism Authority plans to do just that. The intent is to regulate the industry so sex workers are protected and visitors receive “first class service.” An effort to make prostitution safe is laudable, but weigh the risks if sex is on your agenda.
