Fighting between rival clans in the city of Yendi in the Dagbon Traditional Area, Northern Region caused 28 deaths at the end of March. The government announced a state of emergency, sent in troops to control the unrest, established curfews throughout the region and imposed news censorship. Further violence is possible and travel to the area should be deferred until the situation stabilizes.
