Snowfall in the Alps has been especially heavy this year, creating fabulous skiing but also avalanche danger across a wide area. Some 20,000 skiers were snowed in February 22 in several resorts in western Austria, including Lech, Zuers and Galtuer. Snow was continuing to fall heavily and it was uncertain when roads would be cleared.
