East Africa
By Larry Habegger | Permalink |Heavy rains have produced flooding and mudslides in many areas of Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda. More than 100 people have been killed in Burundi and Kenya, and thousands displaced. Three bridges were washed out near Nairobi, threatening to close the Nairobi-Muranga road and causing travelers to take longer alternate routes. Little relief is in sight because the rainy season, which has been heavier than usual this year, usually runs until mid-June.
