The vice president was assassinated by gunmen in Asuncion March 23; the president was impeached the following day; protesters clashed with riot troops two days later and four people were killed. Protests continued March 28 and the president resigned, bringing out some 50,000 people to celebrate. His action may mark the end of the crisis, but consider deferring travel here until passions have cooled.
