A hailstorm of unprecedented ferocity hit Sydney April 14 and left large sections of the city an official disaster area. Some 30,000 vehicles had windows smashed. Roofs and windows of buildings were knocked out. Repairs are underway but will take time to complete because of the extent of the damage.
