The six-month political crisis that stemmed from a disputed presidential election has ended and now the process of cleaning up the mess is underway. The defeated incumbent fled the country and the new government now controls the entire country. Further violent clashes are considered unlikely. Commercial air traffic to the island is being restored. Roadblocks are being removed and bridges rebuilt, but it will probably be several months before the transportation system is back to normal. Fuel supplies are being restored but availability is limited, and shortages of medical supplies and food exist throughout the country. Some areas still have curfews. Petty crime has increased because of the severe economic damage done by the crisis.
