East Africa
By Larry Habegger | Permalink |In the wake of the attacks on an Israeli-owned hotel and charter aircraft in Mombasa, Kenya, the U.S. State Department announced that it had information, thus far unconfirmed, that similar attacks could occur in Djibouti. The State Department is also concerned that the threat of terrorism has increased throughout East Africa and encourages travelers to consider these issues when deciding to travel to the region. In view of the coordinated bombings of the U.S. Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998, this concern would seem to be well placed.
