Citing an increase in security risks, the State Department has authorized the voluntary departure of family members and non-emergency personnel at the U.S. Embassy. Two American schools catering to foreigners will close for six weeks Feb. 10, American families are preparing to leave the country and the Kuwaiti government has placed thousands of troops in armored personnel carriers on the streets as added safety precautions in the event of a U.S. attack on neighboring Iraq.
