By Larry Habegger | Permalink |Australia and New Zealand have issued advisories about possible terrorist attacks throughout Southeast Asia, including Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. Thai officials greeted the announcement with scorn, and Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said the U.S. was “afraid of its own shadow” when referring to the State DepartmentÂ’s renewal of an announcement about risks from Abu Sayyaf terrorists in Sabah, near the Sulu Archipelago in the Philippines where the group remains active.
