By Larry Habegger | Permalink |The World Health Organization (WHO) removed Taiwan from the list of SARS-effected areas July 5. Taiwan was the last place where WHO advised avoiding nonessential travel, and this move effectively declares the world free of the casual spread of the disease. It is possible that SARS could return, most likely with the winter flu season, but for now officials feel the disease is not a threat to travelers.
