Several days of fuel shortages at Sydney’s international airport beginning Sept. 25 delayed thousands of travelers. The airport could supply only one-third of the fuel demand at one of the busiest travel times of the year because of low production by Sydney oil refineries and a delayed fuel shipment. Sydney’s airport is the busiest in Australia, and oil companies are looking for ways to prevent such shortages in the future.
