Tourism, once one of the countryÂ’s main foreign currency earners, has fallen tenfold since a policy to confiscate commercial farms began three years ago. The economy is in its worst crisis since independence in 1980, and crime against the few visitors who come to Zimbabwe is increasing, so much so that the government announced it would set up a special force of tourist police to protect visitors. When this special force will be in place is uncertain.
