United Kingdom
By Larry Habegger | Permalink |Workers on the national rail network have voted to strike for the first time in ten years in a move that could seriously disrupt local and long-distance trains. The dates have not yet been set but union officials have ruled out a strike during the 60th anniversary of D-Day commemorations June 6. Officials have been threatening strikes of six hours to three days with the intent of causing maximum disruption. Workers on the London Underground subway system may also strike in a separate dispute, and the strikes may be coordinated, adding to the chaos.
