Afghanistan

The death of a 23-year-old Minnesota woman in a suicide bombing in Kabul Oct. 23 is a reminder that travel to unstable areas is risky. She and a 12-year-old Afghan girl were killed and eight others were injured when a suicide bomb exploded in a busy market area. The American woman had been working for less than a year as a linguist in Uzbekistan and was reportedly visiting Kabul with friends when she was caught in the wrong place at the wrong time.
