Bahamas
By Larry Habegger | Permalink |On the mend from Hurricane Frances, Grand Bahama was walloped by Hurricane Jeanne and faces a long road to recovery. Much of the island remains without power or phone service and suffers from a shortage of drinking water. Public services are minimal throughout the island, but resorts on Grand Bahama that were already under repair from earlier hurricane damage still expect to be open for the winter tourist season. The only islands in the Bahamas affected by Hurricane Frances were Abaco and Grand Bahama. Nassau and Paradise Island were not damaged and all ports are open, public services are available and businesses are operating as usual.
