Ukraine
By Larry Habegger | Permalink |The disputed presidential election has created large demonstrations in Kiev that have remained relatively calm but have the potential to become unruly. Some 200,000 people filled the city’s main square daily for more than a week as the political crisis deepened, and both the government and opposition have called for a new election. Inter-city travel may be restricted and some buses and trains to Kiev were canceled, while tickets for some scheduled departures were not being sold. Transit may be further disrupted and non-essential travel to and within Ukraine should be deferred until the crisis has passed.
