A new regulation in the EU grants compensation rights to air passengers bumped or stranded by overbooked or canceled flights, allowing up to 600 euros, food and lodging plus a refund of the cost of the ticket. The law went into effect Feb. 17 and applies to passengers flying within the EU or from or to an EU airport on an EU carrier. The law is being challenged in the courts and a ruling is expected in a few months.
