The U.S. Embassy reported that it has information suggesting that Americans and other foreigners are targets for kidnapping in the northern areas bordering Colombia. The region is clearly dangerous because the defense ministry recently sent 3,000 additional troops there to bolster the 7,000 already deployed.

Any information wanted please if you know of someone travelling in Banos Ecuador. Regarding missing person Jenny Pope 50 year old nurse from Mossley United Kingdom travelling alone. Last heard of on 9th January 2006 intending to travel to Quite. Never heard of since. Police from England have travelled to Banos and now returned home with no sign of Jenny.
