British intelligence sources reported that dissident Irish terrorists could be planning a bombing campaign against the UK mainland. According to police, the level of threat from breakaway groups such as the Real IRA is substantial, and could involve improvised bombs, letter bombs or shooting attacks. No specific targets were reported, and there is little visitors can do to avoid being caught in such an incident beyond remaining alert to their surroundings.
