China
By Larry Habegger | Permalink |Three consecutive weekends of anti-Japanese protests involving thousands of demonstrators occurred in several cities, including Shanghai, Shenzen and Chengdu. The protests were so large that analysts believe they were tacitly encouraged by the Chinese government. The situation has caused the worst diplomatic strain between the two countries in more than 30 years. Further demonstrations are possible, and should be avoided.
