Thailand
By Larry Habegger | Permalink |Attacks by Islamic militants in the far south near the Malaysian border have become more frequent and violent, with recent bombings occurring in Hat Yai, Songkhla city and Yala province. The bombings took place at Hat Yai’s international airport, at a major department store, a hotel and a road near a technical college. Areas where non-essential travel should be avoided include Narathiwat, Pattani, Yala, Satun, and Songkhla provinces. These incidents have not affected beach resort areas popular with Western tourists.
