Several transport strikes will disrupt travel in Italy in June. Pilots plan four-hour strikes June 6 and 26 and air traffic controllers will walk out for four hours June 8. Two similar air traffic controller strikes in May resulted in hundreds of canceled flights. State railway workers are set for a 24-hour strike June 23.

The Giro d’Italia (Tour of Italy) bicycle race is on through May 29 and will create congestion in the cities it passes through, including Florence, Genoa and especially Milan at the race’s culmination. Two nationwide strikes are also planned that will affect local public transit and some trains: an eight-hour strike on May 20 and a 24-hour strike on May 31.
