Antigua: Crime Bump

By Larry Habegger | Permalink | 1 comment | June 28th, 2005 | Trackback

Crime in Antigua is at the level that when a third purse was snatched within two weeks in St. John’s, tourism officials raised the alarm that things were getting out of hand and something had to be done. Caribbean islands dependent on tourism are understandably nervous about crime because of the unsolved case of the missing American woman in Aruba, but one snatched bag every four and two thirds days does not sound like the most severe crime wave, unless, of course, it’s your bag.

living in stressed out Britain, this level of crime seems - almost - laughable to us. Do you have any idea how much we Brits would love to have this level of crime? Of course there is desperation in every environment, but, really, you seem to live in paradise. I pray to our Lord for the victims, and I pry to our Lord for the perpetrators. May they soon see how blessed they - and you - all really are. Christmas greetings to all
