The U.S. Embassy in Jakarta has learned that extremists have plans to bomb the lobbies of hotels frequented by Westerners. The attacks are supposedly planned for around noon and were to take place sometime after June 1. Indonesian authorities believe that two masterminds of the Bali bombing still at large are behind the current threats. Security has been tightened near embassies and hotels in recent years making it more difficult to get car bombs into position, so authorities speculate that new attacks may come from suicide bombers going into buildings. The Jakarta police have also warned that attacks could occur at other places frequented by foreigners.
