Central Asia: Terrorist Threats

Citing increased threat reporting for the Central Asia region, the U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, reduced its operations July 18, and the Embassy in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan has moved to a heightened security posture. The Embassies report that extremist groups with links to al Qaeda may be planning attacks against U.S. facilities, citizens, or interests in the region.
