Mexico: Hurricane Emily Hits Yucatan
By Larry Habegger | Permalink |Hurricane Emily walloped the Yucatan Penisula, causing the evacuation of the main tourist strip in Cancun and resorts to the south, but appears to have done little lasting damage. Power was knocked out temporarily, and initial reports suggest that the area’s famous archaeological sites weathered the storm. Once the broken windows and damaged roofs of the homes and resorts are repaired, all should be back to normal.

I will be heading into the area this December. I assume the place has by now long recovered from the hurricane. I wonder if it is at all affected by the problems in Oaxaca? Even in that some tourists may not travel there?
