China: Possible Anti-Japanese Protests

The U.S. Embassy in Beijing reported that news stories suggest possible anti-Japanese demonstrations similar to those in April could occur in Beijing and other cities. The April incidents included demonstrations near the Japanese Embassy in Beijing and Japanese cultural centers and businesses in other cities. Some of these protests became violent, and the situation put a severe strain on China-Japan relations.
