Jordan: Embassies Close in Amman
By Larry Habegger | Permalink |The U.S. Embassy in Amman cautioned Americans on Jan. 7 about ongoing threats of terrorism in Jordan, and the same day the British Embassy closed with the Australian and Canadian embassies following suit Jan. 8. The British Foreign Office warned that “terrorists may be in the final stages of planning attacks against Westerners and places frequented by Westerners,” but a Jordanian official said security authorities analyzed the threats and felt they did not justify closing any embassies. In view of the suicide bombings at hotels in Amman Nov. 9, these threats should be taken seriously.
