Russia: Amur River Spring Thaw Brings Toxic Pollution to Khabarovsk
By Larry Habegger | Permalink |A toxic spill in China’s Songhua River last November is returning to haunt Khabarovsk again this spring because chemicals caught in the frozen river are now flowing downstream with the spring thaw. Residents of the city in Russia’s far east and other settlements along the Amur River have been advised to stop using tap water for drinking or cooking.
