Italy: Airline, Rail, and Ferry Strikes
By Larry Habegger | Permalink |Airline, rail and ferry workers have strikes planned in the coming weeks that could affect transportation throughout the country. Delays in air traffic could occur at the following times and places: Jan. 19, nationwide strike by Alitalia workers; Jan. 22, all day ground workers’ strike at Verona’s airport; Jan. 30, air traffic controllers’ strike in Milan, noon to four, and day-long ground workers’ strike at Venice’s Marco Polo Airport. Rail service may be disrupted at the following times and places: Jan. 18-19, 24-hour rail workers’ strike in Abruzzo beginning at 9 p.m.; Jan. 25-26, 24-hour rail workers strike in Marche beginning at 9 p.m. Ferry service may be disrupted Jan. 18-19 at Messina, Sicily because of a 24-hour ferry workers’ strike beginning at 9 p.m.
