Estonia: Racially-Motivated Attacks in Tallinn

A naturalized American citizen originally from Liberia was attacked outside a nightclub at 3 a.m. in Tallinn’s Old Town June 10 in what is believed to have been a racially-motivated assault. In the past two years numerous incidents of such harassment have been reported to the U.S. Embassy and two similar assaults have occurred. The Estonian government recognizes the problem and, according to the Embassy, is expanding legislation on hate crimes.
