United Kingdom: Suspects Detained in Failed Car Bombings

By Larry Habegger | Permalink | No Comments | July 4th, 2007 | Trackback

Following attempted car bombings in London and at Glasgow’s international airport June 29-30, the threat level in Britain was temporarily raised to “critical” while police searched for suspects. By July 4 they had arrested eight, seven in Britain and one in Australia, and felt they had detained all main suspects in the case. The threat level was dropped to “severe” to reflect the belief that an attack is not imminent, although a serious and real threat remains. Security throughout the country has been tightened and transportation networks could be disrupted if authorities feel they are threatened. Be as flexible as possible with your travel plans.
