Antigua and Barbuda: Violent Crime Increase Prompts New Police Initiatives
By Larry Habegger | Permalink |Antigua is experiencing an increase in violent crime with three recent shooting deaths bringing the murder count to more than 30 in the past two years on these islands whose population is just under 70,000. Officials have implemented crime-fighting initiatives and have made two dozen arrests in the recent killings, but opposition leaders complain that crime is not diminishing. Petty crime affects tourists here, but violent crime tends not to be directed at visitors.

My brother was murdered by the police in Antigua. I cannot get the facts. I am hearing stories all over the place that do not match up. I heard that there was no motive, that it was intentional, But i am waiting for the investigation to see what comes out. Police officers are trained to use a weapon and its impossible to shoot someone so many times - over seven time, for no reason. His name is Kerry Belle.
