United Kingdom: Crime on Buses Still a Problem
By Larry Habegger | Permalink |Separate reports revealed that the crime rate on London’s buses is up since 2004 but leveled off or declined in 2007. Most officials agree, however, that “anti-social behavior” remains a real concern. A report from the London Assembly showed that crime had increased 15 percent over two years from 2004 to 2006, but decreased slightly in 2007. Transport for London reported that its statistics for April to September 2007 showed an 11 percent drop over the same period in 2006. To combat crime officials have added more surveillance cameras and increased the presence of uniformed police on buses, and are considering other options.

My husband recently travelled from Stansted Airport to London Victoria by a foreign-owned bus company. When this bus stopped at Liverpool Street, my husband’s case was taken from the coach without his knowledge. He has reported the theft of his case to the bus company, but they have done nothing. Where can he report it in order to get compensation for this loss?
