India: Airport Workers’ Strike Postponed
By Larry Habegger | Permalink |A strike by 18,000 airport workers that was set for Feb. 26 has been postponed until March 10 to give the government time to negotiate a settlement. If the strike does go ahead as planned in March it will cause flight delays and possibly protests in and around airports. In other news, Hyderabad was put on terror alert Feb. 25 after a warning from Indian intelligence agencies that two terrorists had entered the city to plan attacks. Authorities have raised several alerts of this nature since two terrorist attacks in May and August of last year killed 53 people. Commuters are being stopped and searched at traffic junctions and security has increased in public places.
