By Larry Habegger | Permalink |A months-long customs crackdown has created shortages of many imported goods, including wine and liquor, cheese, crackers and filo pastry on the island of Bali and elsewhere. Restaurants are having trouble obtaining wine and other imports and are adapting their menus to compensate. The crackdown is not the imposition of new rules but rather a case of officials enforcing the laws already on the books in an effort to establish more sound governance.
